pogress

I feel like it's been slow, but at least there is progress.

I have been trying to find a location to hold classes. It's not been as easy as I thought it would be. Between lighting issues, schedule conflicts or lack of communication. But I am happy to say that I have finally secured a location! The date is July 5th. It's going to be so much fun! I'll post more details when they're finalized. In the meantime here's a sneak peak of the project we'll be making.

I have become a regular (pretty much) vendor at Ogilvies Market on the weekends. I'll be there most Saturdays during the summer. We're having a seasonal grand opening this Saturday. I hope you can come. Here's a little flyer with some highights.

When you visit the market, look for my new display. We've been planning this for a while. Still working out some kinks, but I like it so far.

Glorious Sunday!

As usual, I've been busy. Busy working mostly - and recovering from work. As the weather gets warmer I am finding work to be harder and harder. The good news is that I sweat and expend a lot of energy when I'm working in the hot and humid temps. This should mean the scale will start moving again.

But being busy means I don't get to paint much. Which can really drive me mad. I have a real desire to paint, just no energy to get in there and do it!

Last night I had a little free time and started painting. That was interrupted by a trip to the movies (we saw the new X-Men movie). I love going to the movies. It's a little escape from reality and sometimes I just need that. Before going to bed I worked on it a little more and then this Sunday morning I completed it. My studio was nice and bright. With the windows open I could hear the birdsong so sweet. It was the perfect time to paint.

Here's the completed piece. I've decided to offer these pieces for sale. Some of my blog readers have asked if the pieces I've shared are for sale. From now on I'll be adding a button to allow you to purchase any piece you'd like to have. If there is a previous painting you're interested in, please email me at c-moore@rogers.com to see if it's still available. Some of the art I've shown is in my art journal and it's not available to purchase. Otherwise anything I create is for sale.

This piece was created on heavy weight mixed media paper and measures 11x14". It's ready to frame. I hope you like today's completed piece.

Exciting times

I have been doing lots of painting these days. Blogger however has not been cooperative. I haven't been able to upload any pictures!

I have been busy planning more events to show my artwork. I just love being able to talk to people about my art. It is a little daunting though, being face to face with people judging my paining.

The other exciting things going on are classes. Well, I haven't held any yet, but I am planning some classes where you can come out and create a painting with a little bit of guidance. I'm not teaching the technical aspects of painting, rather I'll be helping you find your creativity while using a piece I created as your guide. It's going to be lots of fun and you'll take home an original piece of art for your wall - made by you!

More on that to come soon. In the meantime I am sharing here one of the cute pieces I created for my last show. I do take (and welcome) custom orders. This one would be great for a little girl's room.

Painting, painting, painting

I am hosting a craft show this weekend. It started out to be a way for me to show and sell my paintings while also allowing other crafters to do the same. Then I got a full time job and my son moved in and everything got packed up. I haven't even felt much like painting for a few months. But after my accident and being home from work for 3 weeks resting my foot, I decided to dig out some paints and canvases and let the creativity flow. So now I'm painting like a mad woman trying to have fresh new pieces for the show this Saturday. I can't seem to get them done fast enough. The ideas are flowing freely. I only have a few days left to prepare. I'll share more after the show.

If you're local, please check out the facebook even page, and then come visit and support the small businesses and crafters there.

Weekends!

I just love weekends! It's a time when I get to spend the days enjoying my family. Now, I've been off work for a couple weeks so I haven't had that typical 'can't wait for the weekend' feeling. But I still love them. Today we're heading off to church and then will have a short visit with my sister-in-law at her new apartment. Later I'll get to spend a little time with my granddaughter. I have really missed her the past several weeks! In the past few days I have continued to feel creativity flowing. This piece I had posted on facebook and called it complete. Once I saw the picture online though I realized it wasn't finished at all! So this is the newly completed piece. Im pretty happy with it, and it seems to make people smile and that makes me happy! Have a great Sunday!

Back to it!

So I realize that it's been a really, really long time since I've posted anything. I'm sorry for that! I started working full time and the job just exhausted me. I had no time to create anything. Add to that my son and grandson moved into where my studio was and all my studio stuff got crammed into a spare room. I couldn't get to anything in order to paint.

That happened in October. Fast forward to March. I'm still working the full time job only I've been off work for a couple weeks. Being the clutz I am, I sprained my ankle. Apparently I sprained it pretty good too. The doctor called it a serious injury. I've spent the last two weeks sitting around trying to stay off my feet to rest the ankle. I'm going stir crazy! I finally dug my way into the spare room and pulled out a few things. Here's my first creation since before Christmas.

Because I'm still in pain and my foot is still swollen, I'e been given 2 more weeks off work. I get to wear a lovely boot and do physiotherapy too! What that means is that there will be a lot more creating going on. I'm even considering teaching a few classes!

And I promise, even when I go back to work, I wont neglect my blog - or you!
